Spring Street

One of the "Streets", past and present, of Downtown Utica's CoLa Neighborhood.

Spring Street
Columbia Lafayette Neighborhood
Utica, NY

Records at the Oneida County History Center show Spring Street being establsihed in years 1842-1843. The street commenced at Broadway and terminated at Varick Street; this was the same timeline for CoLa's Cooper Street.

Spring Street no longer exists within the CoLa Neighborhood. During Urban Renewal Project No. 1, both Spring Street and Cooper Street ran through the present-day City Hall parcel. View the 1884 map of Downtown Utica's CoLa's Parcels: Circa. 1884.

One may still visit a two-block length of Spring Street in West Utica. Prior to the Chenango Canal and Urban Renewal they use to run to Broadway.

We're not opposed to a new hospital, just do not bulldoze Downtown Utica's Historic Columbia Lafayette Neighborhood... "Build It At St. Luke's!"
