Just off historic Carton Street, the Wynn-Utica Gateway Park will welcome visitors to The Wynn Hospital and leads them to much more throughout downtown. The Wynn-BUD Initiative would oversee the park's development and redevelopment of Carton Avenue, an orginal Erie Canal-era street.
According to recent headlines, such as State approves Erie Canal trail projects through Utica, Herkimer County, opportunities to connect to trails have leaped forward. The new hospital neighborhood is very well positioned to access these, other downtown neighborhoods, and attractions.
As the only remaining original historic street, this cobblestone lane will integrate downtown's new biking/hiking pathways connected to the Rayhill Memorial Trail and the Utica-Frankfort Erie Canalway Trail On The Empire Trail. Both the lane and park offer numerous opportunities for historic signage, for both tourists and hospital guests alike!
We're not opposing The Wynn Hospital, just don't bulldoze more of Downtown Utica's Historic Columbia-Lafayette Neighborhood..., help inact the Wynn-BUD Initiative.
