Utica Radiator Corporation

Record states, "Founded by Earle C. Reed and William C. Murray in 1928," per a 2007 news report Reed family members retire from ECR posts. Story goes onto say, "Two top executives have retired from the historical Utica-based company their grandfather co-founded nearly 80 years ago."

Local industry leaders, president of Utica Radiator included, worked to attract a major manufacturer to locate in Utica...

The team responsible for convincing Chicago Pneumatic Tool to move here included members of the Utica Chamber of Commerce, including Leslie R. Taylor, president of International Heater; Jim Capp, proprietor of the Wicks & Greenman men’s clothing store in downtown Utica; Charles Hall, president of Oneida National Bank; John Train, president of Utica Mutual Insurance; Richard Balch, president of Horrocks-Ibbotson fishing tackle firm; Walter Matt, of the West End Brewery; Earl Dunmore, president of the Utica Knitting Company; William Murray, president of Utica Radiator; attorney Henry T. Dorrence, and Vincent R. Corrou, former mayor of Utica and now head of the Chamber of Commerce’s Industrial-Business Development Division.”


Utica Radiator Corporation was one of many Utica-based Furnace & Boiler Companies. Their boilers were large and for heavy industrial use. Utica's history of boiler and furnace manufacturing offers a great opportunity for a Better Wynn Hospital Neighborhood.
